I've been wanting to post about this for a while. Michael Paul Smith creates photographs his car models in very realistic sets, or more accurately in sets that he makes look real. This is not easy to do, but as you can see, he gets all the details right - color, layout, depth of field, composition, etc. Sometimes I can't tell if they are real life size photographs, or models, which is a great compliment to his abilities. As a photographer I very much appreciate his ability. Some of my photos of

Meanwhile, if you check out his
Flicker page, you will see he is publishing a book of his photographs which will be available on Amazon on May 1 (
Elgin Park: An Ideal American Town). He has also been written about in
this article by the New York Times.
I'm posting some of his work here, but his Flicker site also has other cool stuff like his recreations of old period photographs, using old appliances and period touches. Well worth a visit.
